The Adjustment Bureau

"I'm coming with you."

A simple line but it struck me the most.

The movie talks to me about faith, love and trust.

Faith, because of the underlying theme of The Chairman. The One who writes the path or what we might call destiny. Though there's always Chance - this is what's variable in life - yet most people don't do something about it.

Love. All movies, all songs everywhere always has an underlying theme of love. As they say, it makes the world go round. Cliche? Yes. But it is the core reason everyone gets up in the morning and gets going through the day - its' always love. In any form or in any way, we all have this and we never want to stop sharing about it. I guess what I want to say is, whether it's the love between lovers or friends or family: whether it's the start or the end of the line, it is always part of any story or music. It's all intercomnected because of love. We are all connected because of love.

Last but not at all the least among the three - TRUST.
Trust makes you vulnerable because you open up yourself to rejection, to possible pain, and to emptiness.
On the other hand, if that trust is reciprocated, then you become happy because all the risks is all worth it.

This movie is really talking to me about these 3 things, but more so, about trust. I broke one's trust. The only one whose trust I care about. Slowly, I'm still paying the price. It's not going to be easy, but I know it's all worth it.

"I'm coming with you."

And that is a promise...

where the love is in a cup of frozen dairy sweets

If you should know, somewhere in this mess of a blog, I posted my love of KFC krushers. It was the caramel crunch variety that I loved first, but sad to say, it did not last long like the other flavors. Oh well.

Then last year, I was sent here to Pasig for training. It was then, that I was brought to a frozen delightful corner that introduced me to and I fell in love at first sip with Caramel Moolatte. Yes, it's Dairy Queen! It's creamy-sweet and sinful just the way I like it. And I enjoyed at least one cup every day for the next week after that. It was baaad! Ha Ha Ha.

Now, that love story was short-lived. :( I had to go back home to Cebu, where Dairy Queen has not conquered yet. I hope to see DQ in my hometown soon. And I've been missing my caramelly chilled love-joy ever since.

Two days ago, I came back to Manila and was of course excited to try Dairy Queen again. I heard they had some new flavors. I've been swamped with things to do that it was only today, I got the time to hunt for the nearest Dairy Queen station.

Happiness. In. A. Cup. sip sip sip... and I let the flavor play around my mouth. Oooh bliss!

As I was going back to my hotel, I dropped by Podium to stroll and window-shop. One stall caught my eye and I knew that I got to try it. I almost didn't believe that the tubs on the freezer contained ice cream. They looked like the stuff you use as toppings on a soft ice cream. Hmm interesting. The girl at the counter gave me a free taste and so tried different flavors. Wow, it really is a fun way to eat ice cream. I purchased and enjoyed the orange & coffee cheesecake combo in a regular cup. I also realized that orange flavored ice cream is promising. Yey! So I've found a new love. Oh, and by the way, did I saythat it's Dippin' Dots?
You should try it. And if you have, tell me if bubble gum taste good coz I'm planning to get another cup tomorrow. ;-)

It's summer and it's really warmer than usual. But I can beat the sun's heat as long as I can enjoy my cup of frozen dairy sweets. So should you.

Her Love

We were inside the car then. We were supposed to go attend mass in the church but we did not go inside. For whatever reason, we hung out in the car instead. I was glad I joined her in the air-conditioned comfort than sitting in the warm pews on an afternoon mass.
She started talking about my brother.
Let me say that among us 3, he must be the most dear to her. He is the only boy, after all. I never felt the favorite when my brother wasn't born yet, but I can't say I'm the least liked either. But back when we were growing up, I was used to giving up what I want if she disapproves. I haven't been perfect. Oh, not at all. My sister was another case. She goes on with her ways even when our parents scolds her alot of times. Their words would fell on deaf ears.
Anyway, going back to the scene. She started talking about hoe my brother got scolded by the priest who also happens to be his teacher too. They were on a Youth Encounter, a retreat for the graduating class on school grounds. He and a few of his friends
were asked to leave. I can't remember the details anymore but as she talked about it, tears fell. She said that JB (my brother) was so worried that he would get scolded again by our parents this time. Of course, I cried too.
No one can't help but cry when it's your mother who's crying. As I look back, I can't remember the time she cried because of me. There were several times, my sister made her cry but that was before when we were kids and JM (my sister) can't help but enjoy youth.
The next time I saw my mom cry again was when she relayed to me about JM's problems with her family. It was so heart breaking because she never reveals her feelings to me that way. She tries to keep it cool, which I mistakenly thought before as being a little heartless. It was so wrong to think that way.
I said before that I haven't seen her cry because of what I did, but I wouldn't really know. She's good in keeping things to herself. I'm happy I still get to see her for who she really is --- a mother who only wants the best for her kids.
I love you nanay. I can't say this to her without tears forming
my eyes. But I hope she knows I really do. All the things I am and I have won't be enough to repay her for her love.
Maybe when I get to be a mother myself will I fully understand the depth of her love. And I can show my gratitude to my child as I should to her.

2 centimeters

I miss him, as I miss him in all of the days I'm not with him. Some days are bad, some days are worse. But I keep smiling on facing my days in the knowledge of his love.

Loving someone so much could hurt and in ways you have not imagined. I can be melodramatic and say that I've been through the worst. I probably haven't because if I already did, I wouldn't have survived. I know. My pain threshold is as small as the space between my thumb and my index when they hold a pen.

I just asked for him to do something small for me, this was something we argued over before. We argued about this a million times. I want us to talk longer. But then he has to go. I could say I have been a good girl these past few times, telling myself, I can talk to him again later. Today is different. I had to ask him to stay on for a little more so we can talk longer... but he told me I don't understand at all.

I can no longer continue telling you, my dear blog, because the screen is blurred now. I'm angry at myself again for not giving him what he wants when he wanted it: understanding. I want to lash out at myself for getting hurt again, for being in tears again. When will I learn to just depend on myself and not totally rely on someone else for my happiness? When will I be able to adapt to what people expects of me? When can I hold back that part of me called pride?

My Name is Gossip

I am more deadly than the screaming shell of the cannon.
I win without killing.
I tear down homes, break hearts, and wreck lives.
I travel on the wings of the wind.
No innocence is strong enough to intimidate me, no purity pure enough to daunt me.
I have no regard for truth, no respect for justice, no mercy for the defenseless.
My victims are as numerous as the sands of the sea and often as innocent.
I never forget and seldom forgive.
My name is Gossip.
~Morgan Blake~

This is the message I received last Sunday from James 1:19
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
I remember a story about anger. It's called Nails in the Fence.
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Remember that friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us.'
Nanay and Tatay, I am sorry.
I'm sorry for complaining so much before. I know you only want to give us, your children, the best in life that you could give. I'm sorry for ever belittling you or thinking . You both deserve only love and respect from me.
Friend, I am sorry.
I'm sorry for having lied to you. I'm sorry for backstabbing you. I'm sorry if I ever hurt you with spiteful words. You deserve better.
For everyone else, I AM SORRY for hurting you at all.
Please let this prayer be a reminder for me to always keep a tab on my tongue, keep it in check so I won't say a needless hurtful word to anyone. AMEN.

You're killing me, breaking me down

Move in a little closer
Take it to a whisper
Just a little louder
Say It Again. Marie Digby.

No other four-letter word in the dictionary is as talked about as any other. It may have different meanings for different people, although it stems from the same universal pool of emotions that we all draw from. Of all the aphorisms alluding to love, this one struck me most.

"We all want to be serious writers, pero ang totoo, we want to write the greatest love story of our lives, and ang pinakamimithi natin is, na maging totoo sana ito."
Ripped off from callboi

Now enough about that. Let me show you who inspires me these days.

Tristan Prettyman. When I end my day at the office usually at daybreak, I listen to her sing just to lighten my mood as I wrap up. Love love love! For sampling, click here!

Meiko. She may sound like Colbie Caillat or not, but whatever! She writes good songs that hooks me happy. I wanna feel how I wanna feel forever, I want you! If you're on myspace, hit me to listen to her!

Everyday I discover something new. Some days, I discover something that turn them into instant favorites.

Vincci. VNC shoes in the local market (Manila only) I first got hands on them in Malaysia. When I put them on my feet, they would not want to wear anything else anymore. Well, except Havaianas, of course. Haha! Those flip-flops are another story to tell. Anyway, I bought about 4 pairs and I feel as if they are not enough. Seriously. It's sad VNC is not available in Cebu, though. If it were, I'd be sure to have more photos to share. *wink

KFC Pasta Alfredo and Karamel Krunch. I know, I know! I have already blogged about Mr. Karamel Krunch before but I really loved it. My tastebuds have already known Ms. Pasta Alfredo since pasta was first introduced to KFC.

A lot of times, I bloghop and it's really fun. Sometimes, its more fun than writing an entry for your blog. hee hee! So these two new discoveries have a permanent place in my blog, Recharge! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Patty Laurel. She was an MTV VJ in 2003. Basing on one of her blog posts, she is a schoolteacher. She had been blogging for more than 4 years now. I read her blog when I'm bored and I need inspiration on what to post on my own blog. Reading her is fresh and I feel very grounded.

Callboi. Ryan Buquir. This blog is for those who are bored with constantly working graveyard shift, or for those who are happy and gay, and for everyone else who would like to have a hearty laugh. Warning: Some posts may be NSFW (Not Safe For Work) ;D

Sure to love you,
chiclois
